Deep Stream, a performance derived from the piece Age of Content, presented at the Louvre for the closing of the exhibition Figures of the Fool. From the Middle Ages to the Romantics.

The Louvre Museum invites its public to a special late-night opening to mark the closing of the exhibition Figures of the Fool.

On this occasion, the Ballet national de Marseille, directed by (LA)HORDE, takes over the Cour Marly and Cour Puget of the Louvre for an uninterrupted two-hour performance: Deep Stream. Thirty dancers perform choreographic motifs drawn from their latest creation Age of Content—including GTA (inspired by the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City), Mouths Fists, and Weather is Sweet. Deep Stream explores the digitisation of bodies in the age of the virtual and the multiverse.

The marble statues of the Cour Marly and Cour Puget act as an anachronistic mirror for these “2.0 performers,” other bodies they encounter and confront.

The proximity of the dancers and the possibility for the audience to move freely around them offer a renewed perception of the technical precision of their movements.

The Ballet national de Marseille accompanies the performance with a livestream across the social media channels of the Louvre, (LA)HORDE, and the BNM. Deep Stream is also broadcast in real time on a giant screen in the Cour Marly. The movement references viral avatar trends, taking on new life within one of the world’s most visible museums.
