Après moi, le déluge (“After me, the flood”) emerges at a tipping point, in a fragile moment when the world seems to lose its footing. Beneath the weight of ongoing crises and collective exhaustion, bodies collapse and soften, beginning to come apart even before the performance starts.
The dance starts moving against the current of time, reaching back toward what came before the catastrophe, before erosion and fatigue set in. But turning back requires a decisive act: the ground splits open, the stage is torn apart, a chasm appears. From this breach rise hybrid, monstrous figures shaped by our shared narratives, our silences, and our renunciations.
In this underground space, the dancers reenact the structures that shape our world: power, legacy, domination, but also the possibility of transformation. The scenes unfold as micro-rituals in which care may heal yet also constrain, where tenderness slips into control and attention carries quiet forms of surveillance.
Following Room with a View and Age of Content, this creation extends an ongoing exploration of dance as a way to transgress imposed narratives. Après moi, le déluge is a collective introspection, a descent beneath everyday gestures and systems of power, questioning how we look, how we care, how we transmit, and how we might change.
