Joeri Dubbe

7EVEN makes a lot of sense to me as the 7 necessities by EG I PC are already included in my work. Dancers from the BNM and ICK already have a very rich professionnal path. my project for 7even is to explore the collective from these such incredibles personalities.

Joeri Dubbe’s artistic work is articulated around the question of transformation. Metamorphosis is the focal point and is a way for him to divert some popular fables that question contemporary problematics.

Joeri Alexander Dubbe was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands. After his 9 year education at the National Ballet School, Joeri joined the Dutch National Ballet where he danced for four years before making the transition to Nederlands Dans Theater 2 in 2005. In this time Joeri worked with choreographers such as Jiri Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Stijn Celis and Lightfoot & Leon. He was also working as a freelance dancer for Kenzo Kusada and events such as Julidans in Paradiso, Sensation White, Hart improvisation in Club Panama and Electronation. In 2009 he was commissioned by Korzo to make his first work Prospect Future for Here We Live and Now 2009. This performance was also presented at Today’s Art, The World Shanghai Expo and was selected for DansClick. Prospect is an adaptation of this impressive debut creation. His first full performance Chrono premiered during the 2011 CaDance festival, and was selected for the Blind Date Tour. With Chrono Joeri also won the prestigious BNG Prize for New Theatre Makers.

It is the first performance in years in which he appears on stage again as a dancer. For the upcoming season he has planned a creative collaboration with the Israeli choreographer Idan Sharabi. Infant premiered at Korzo in October 2015 and went on tour throughout the Netherlands in Spring 2016.
