How can music and dance be perceived so differently as regards the combination of their notes, sequences or movements? What effects do these different compositions have on our senses and our imagination?

In Only One of Many, composer Sébastien Roux and choreographer DD Dorvillier study the relationship between music and dance. They devise a piece based on the paired combinations of four scores: Dance 1, Dance 2, Music 1, Music 2. A novel entity, specific to each member of the audience, emerges from each new combination.

By favouring observation and listening as autonomous experiences of creation, Only One of Many opens up a new reflection on the notion of the active spectator.
