MÉLANIE PERRIER

ET DE SE TENIR LA MAIN

Et de se tenir la main revolves around a male duo, a gesture and a live drum set. How can this universal gesture, holding hands, unfold such a plurality of situations ? Ambivalent organs par excellence, capable of the greatest gentleness as well as the worst violence, our hands participate at all stages and situations of our life. Mélanie Perrier makes of its polysemy the subject and medium of her creation. At a time when gender noms are crumbling and when touching becomes lethal, Mélanie Perrier aims at going back to what connects and unites us.

Conceiving dance as a powerful vector for renewing our representations and ways of inventing, she makes the show a sensitive experience which is created, lived, continued and shared from its creation to its diffusion. That is why beyond the choreographic piece itself, the Ballet national de Marseille is supporting the implementation of a digital creation process, including a committee of children connected to the different stages of the work. In addition, there will be an online book of gesture to dance.

With her company 2minimum, Mélanie Perrier develops a work around « a virtuosity of relationship », a research around the duo in particular. She makes choreography writing a geography of bodies, giving rise to sensitive experiences. Considering dance relays on relationships, her company strives to invent new places for dance in society. As such, she is very attached to contemporary issues of artistic education.
