Quand on se retrouve entre nous chacun reprend sa place

Collectif KO.COM

“When we all meet up again, everyone goes back to their place” is a phrase taken from Immigration or the Paradoxes of Otherness (1991) by Abdelmalek Sayad: an immigrant worker gives an account of his experiences in shelters and explains how these soulless spaces are governed by rules associated with their “conditional status” as temporary citizens in a country living in accommodation that is also temporary.

Quand on se retrouve entre nous chacun reprend sa place talks about the huge need to “rebuild on the ruins”, about the incredible desire to live and be able to dream once again that is experienced by young refugees who, after an interminable journey, have ended up in Marseille.
