Arthur Perole

Envisaging dance as a space of physical and psychological freedom, Ballroom has its roots in Arthur Perole’s research into voguing and tarantellas. The piece is presented as a reflection on the origins and social – sometimes vital – necessities of dance. It also questions the power of the group or the community coming together. The show is devised like a utopia, a communion, a collective trance between the stage and the theatre in a shared “spiritual” contribution. Ballroom aims to touch the audience and convey a physical resonance and sensorial excitement. Taking a shared visceral approach, Arthur Perole asks: “What’s your release?”
