Rone

Erwan Castex, better known as Rone, is a leading figure on the French electronic music scene. Born in 1980 in Boulogne-Billancourt, the self-taught musician cut his teeth at the Sorbonne Nouvelle.

After the release of his first EP, Bora, he quickly caught the attention of Agoria, a French producer and DJ, who added him to one of his compilations.

Named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2017, he was awarded the SACEM Grand Prix for electronic music and the César for best original music for La Nuit venue in 2020 and 2021 respectively. In 2022, he was again nominated for a César for best original music for the film Les Olympiades.

He co-created the musical and choreographic piece ROOM WITH A VIEW with (LA)HORDE in 2020 at the invitation of the Théâtre du Châtelet.

"With ROOM WITH A VIEW, we wanted to become observers of the world through our art. (...) There is a responsibility as an artist; an audience follows me and listens to me. It's important to try to get messages across."

Although the show was a success, health restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic compromised the last two performances in March 2020. This did not prevent Rone from releasing Room With A View, his fifth studio album, in April of the same year. 2021 saw the release of the album Rone & Friends, featuring the voices of Jehnny Beth, Yael Naim, and Camélia Jordana, among others.
