Alice Gavin
Alice Gavin is a graphic designer, author, and creative director. She operates through ALICE GAVIN SERVICES™, a studio specializing in image direction, primarily within the fields of contemporary art and fashion.
Her previous experiences led her to London, where she worked alongside art director Yorgo Tloupas (Yorgo&Co) and within the research lab of fashion photographer Nick Knight (SHOWstudio). She co-founded Groupe CCC (2010–2020), an art direction and graphic design studio, as well as the independent project space 22RUEMULLER in Paris’s 18th arrondissement (2011–2019).
Between 2019 and 2022, Alice Gavin was an associate artist at the Ballet national de Marseille under the direction of (LA)HORDE, where she conducted a research and creation residency around the question: “How can dance be mediated through images in 2022?”
There, she developed an experimental working approach, independent of commissions, placing artistic creation back at the center of institutional communication, and advocating for a more ethical perspective beyond the sole pursuit of visibility. As an associate artist, she considers all spaces of communication and image-making as sites of artistic curation.
The shaping of the visual identity places equal importance on the creation of the CCN’s logo and on often-overlooked media such as “merchandise,” by proposing artist editions. The photographic documentation of the Ballet is conceived as a new form of contemporary heritage, where each new collaboration expands a constellation of artists orbiting the Ballet national de Marseille.
Alice Gavin contributed to the visual identity of the works Room With a View (2020) and Childs/Carvalho/Lasseindra/Doherty (2021).
