Pau Simon – Panaches (Studio Residency 2024)

Pau Simon is a choreographer and performer. Their artistic research often finds its grounding in the meeting point between the intimate and the political, which they then seek to displace in order to play with it. Their stage practice is marked by a hybrid approach combining dance, live sound devices, and documentary research.

Panaches is an intimate odyssey about queer families, and an ode to strange families more broadly. With playfulness and strangeness, Panaches unfolds a poetic fiction: how do we make family in the black hole of the abyss? How do we create our own light there? How do we reproduce ourselves? How do we invent magical forms of kinship?

Dancing monsters, submerged songs, alien gestations Panaches attempts to translate the creative power of dark, teeming waters.
