Oona Doherty – Specky Clark (Studio Residency 2024)

At the crossroads of fiction and biography, Specky Clark intertwines personal history with Irish mythology. For this new creation, described as “a series of theatrical images,” Oona Doherty investigated the life of her grandfather Clark, nicknamed Specky (“the squint”): from this emerges a choreography where Belfast’s working class, the docks, backyard pigs, slaughterhouses, and the butcher shop run by her maternal family intersect.

A deep dive into a time and a reality for which the artist is both witness and bearer.
