Marion Zurbach – Noxious Tale (Studio Residency 2023)

Noxious Tale is a non-linear narrative whose branching threads emerge to weave a hybrid body. This body in struggle seeks to inscribe within its tissues, its muscles, and its flesh a new system of values.

Noxious Tale is a story of emancipation and the subversion of archetypes. The monsters of classical and Romantic ballet continue to uphold certain moral values. This performance is a physical invocation of their resurgence and a recognition of the singularity of their existence. They appear alongside so-called “nuisance” animals (pigeons, rats…), forming an army within the performer’s body.

Noxious Tale stages the monstrous relationship embedded in the pursuit of beauty inherently unattainable. Marion Zurbach does not embody a monster, but rather seeks an impure body, one that questions its relationship to itself and attempts to break free from a sterile condition.
