Dalila Belaza - Au coeur

Au cœur – Dalila Belaza (Studio Residency 2021)

Born in 1973, Dalila Belaza trained in both dance and foreign languages. For over twenty years, she has performed in choreographic works by Nacera Belaza. Since 2012, she has developed projects independently or in collaboration with artists from various disciplines, and founded her own company in 2020.

The result of an encounter with the North Aveyron folk dance group Lous Castelous de Sénergues, Au cœur brings together distinct worlds folklore and contemporary dance in search of a shared language. The aim is to explore the space of porosity between them, between their respective dances.

In Au cœur, Dalila Belaza examines the emergence of gesture, situated between the dancer and folklore both singular to each individual and connecting them to others and to the world. This staging of a gesture that is both intimate and unifying brings Dalila Belaza’s work into dialogue with that of (LA)HORDE.
