Balkis Moutashar – Climal (Studio Residency 2022)

Climal creates the conditions for an encounter between a group of dancers and animals, within a shared and defined space over a given period of time. Interested in different forms of movement that are a priori distant from one another — from our everyday gestures to the movements of animals — Balkis Moutashar seeks to explore, experience, reactivate, and share the connection that links us to other living beings, particularly animals.

In the context of both an ecological crisis and a crisis of sensibility, Climal reexamines our relationships with other forms of life, in search of a dance that embodies a certain “anthropocentric decentering.”
