Amit Noy - Good Luck

Amit Noy – Good Luck (Studio Residency 2024)

Good Luck strips folk dance of its formal elements in order to examine somatic processes of discipline, perpetuation, and guilt.

In Good Luck, Amit Noy creates a solo for himself that subverts the frameworks of traditional Israeli dance and music to stage a critique of state violence. How does the choreography of nationalism lie dormant within everyday gestures — crystallized in a dance step or embedded in our most intimate imaginaries? Through a rigorously physical practice, Amit Noy dissects traditional dance, revealing its military affinities.

The body slips into a process of disintegration. From its ruins emerges a disturbing regression into childhood, born from the dissonant union of sex and violence. Good Luck gathers symbols and narratives to unsettle what appears unshakeable: the affective structure of the nation-state.
