This 30 minutes Ballet, in two scenes, marks a big change in George Balanchine's
artistic life. He establishes himself by the precision and the purity
of his choreography, in the image of the greec architecture, and
reaches therefore a timeless dimension which annonces the biggest masterpieces
- notably on Stravinsky 's musics - he created for the New-York City Ballet.
Working on Igor Stravinsky's partition, he becomes aware of a new dimension
of choreographic composition by way of a new methodology and a new aesthetics,
whose his later works remain marked. This new approach allow
him to modernize the classical pas-de-deux and bring a masterly contribution
to the neoclassical style development.
