Entrez dans la Danse with the Ballet National de Marseille
In partnership with the Rector's office at the Académie d’Aix-Marseille and as part of its policy of bringing dance to school audiences, the Ballet National de Marseille is continuing its programme of cultural activities entitled "Entrez dans la Danse…". The aim is to give children and young people easy and free access to choreographic practices and works, as well as allowing them to find out for themselves how a professional company works.
Mentored by dancers Agnès Lascombes and Baptiste Herbert from the Ballet National de Marseille, the project culminates in a production that showcases the students' work. It will be held on the Ballet's premises at the end of the season (date to be confirmed).
Work is currently underway with nine classes - some 200 students - from Saint-André La Castellane (Marseille 14th), La Parade (Marseille 13th), Saint-Barthélémy Les Flamants (Marseille 14th), Collège Pont-de-Vivaux (Marseille 10th), Collège Plan-de-Cuques (Marseille 13th) and Lycée Joliot-Curie (Aubagne).
They are working on creative projects on the topic of ‘Body and the City’, involving various art forms including writing, drama and dance.
Thanks to support from CRÉDIT MUTUEL MÉDITERRANNÉEN AND THE FONDATION DU CRÉDIT MUTUEL POUR LA LECTURE - THE BALLET NATIONAL DE MARSEILLE'S NEW SPONSOR - all the students were recently given free tickets to a performance of ‘Silent Collisions’ (Flamand/Mayne) at La Criée in January, and will be attending the neoclassical evenings at the Théâtre du Gymnase at the end of March 2007.
