Zaha Hadid’s work experiments with new spatial concepts intensifying existing urban landscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic that encompasses all fields of design.

Hadid studied architecture at the Architectural Association and was awarded the Diploma Prize in 1977. She became a partner of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture and taught at the AA until 1987. Zaha Hadid has held the Kenzo Tange Chair at Harvard and the Eero Saarinen Visiting Professorship at Yale. Hadid remains the principal visiting Professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.  Zaha Hadid is an Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture, Commander of the British Empire, and Laureate of the Pritzker Prize. Zaha Hadid has also received the Austrian Decoration of Science and Art and a Member of the Royal Academy.

Best known for her seminal built works (Vitra Fire Station, the Rosenthal Centre for Contemporary Art, the BMW Central Building and the Phaeno Science Center) Zaha Hadid’s central concerns involve a simultaneous engagement in practice, teaching and research.
