La danse dans tous ses états
Forsythe - Kelemenis - Duato-Flamand/Campana

When Frédéric Flamand came to Marseille just over three years ago, it was his wish to promote communication between different dance techniques. For the Ballet National de Marseille and the École Nationale Supérieure de Danse de Marseille, it will be a matter no more and no less of demonstrating in a reduced period time the range of a deliberately exhaustive list of their activities.

16, 17 & 22 May 2008, at the BNM’s performance space, the École Nationale Supérieure de Danse will be organising its “demonstrations”, getting classical dance, contemporary dance, baroque dance, traditional regional dances and free dance of the kind initiated by Isadora Duncan to rub shoulders with one another.

17 & 18 May 2008, a mixed programme of three pieces will then be offered by the Ballet at the Opéra :
// “Herman Schmerman - pas de deux” by William Forsythe, one of the last pieces he created with a neo-classical construction before moving on to a more contemporary aesthetic.
// “Por vos Muero” by Nacho Duato, a contemporary choreographer influenced by the neo-classical master, Jiri Kylian.
// “Tattoo” by Michel Kelemenis, a contemporary choreographer who has been asked to revisit the aesthetic of the pointe.

23 & 24 May 2008, and still at the Opéra de Marseille, Frédéric Flamand will be presenting his new creation “Métamorphoses”, a show freely inspired by Ovid’s eponymous work and produced in collaboration with the Brazilian brothers and designers of world renown Humberto & Fernando Campana.
