| ENTRE(Z) DANS LA DANSE AVEC LE BALLET NATIONAL DE MARSEILLE
Each year, as part of its policy to open up and make people aware of dance, the Ballet National de Marseille runs a programme of cultural activities designed to raise the profile of dance among young audiences. This programme, called “Entrez dans la danse avec le Ballet National de Marseille”, is the outcome of a partnership forged in 1999 between the Ballet National de Marseille and the Aix-Marseille education authority. Now in its tenth year, the programme, which has already brought dance to almost 2,000 schoolchildren and students in Bouches-du-Rhône, will give 300 new students free access* this year to different types and works of dance, and will enable them to find out how a professional company operates, in particular by visiting the dance studios of the BNM and meeting professional dancers during workshops, rehearsals and public performances in several venues in Marseille.

CHAD (Dance classes within an adapted timetable)
An initiative of the Ministry of National Education, the aim of CHADs is to allow willing students to receive dance training in addition to their general education over a four-year period (from the ages of 11 to 15). The training covers three main areas: an introduction to understanding the body in danced movement, adapted musical training and an introduction to choreographic culture.
For the 2009/2010 academic year, a first-year class from the Arthur Rimbaud School in Marseille will be taking part, working every Thursday afternoon with the Ballet National de Marseille and the Kelemenis dance company which is a partner in this project.
