exhibition organised by Fabienne Vandenbrouck and Christine Germain-Donnat

Did you know that Yves Saint-Laurent designed some of the Ballet National de Marseille’s most beautiful costumes, such as the ones for Roland Petit’s Notre Dame de Paris? Roland Petit, the founder of the Ballet National de Marseille, continually sought the collaboration of great couturiers to produce original creations: Gianni Versace’s shoulder-padded silhouettes for Java For Ever, Hervé Léger’s slender bandage dresses for Lac des Cygnes et ses maléfices, not forgetting the rose-covered tutus by renowned fashion illustrator René Gruau. As well as an opportunity to present astonishing pieces like Zizi Jeanmaire’s bustiers for Carmen and La Belle au Bois Dormant or the large skirt designed by the architect Zaha Hadid for Frédéric Flamand’s Métapolis, this exhibition will present new technical fabrics used in fashion as well as poorer ones picked out by the Campana brothers. A true history of dance tailor-made!
