A new and exciting dimension
« Our appointment as directors of the Ballet National de Marseille last February has brought a new and exciting dimension to the work we have been developing for almost 20 years on the opposition and dialogue between body and mind.
Together with the remarkably talented dancers in the company, our aim is to go further in the quest for the extreme and the minimal, as well as to create long-term links with the choreographic arts centre we founded in the Netherlands, ICKamsterdam.
New work, the repertoire, guest artists and a variety of networks and relationships within Marseille and the region and in Europe and abroad will give substance to the vision we want to share and develop with the company established in 1972 by Roland Petit.
This coming season, two stands of research will be introduced :
“The Body in Revolt” is a theme in which we deal with dance, society and the role of the artist. It will guide us in the first coproduction between the BNM and ICK, “Extremalism Revisited”, which is scheduled for June 2015. and « Le Corps du Ballet », on the search for new forms of contemporary ballet, with as a starting point “Le Corps du Ballet National de Marseille”, scheduled for March 2015 at the Theatre National de Marseille – La Criée.
We look forward to sharing this with you! »
