The BALLET NATIONAL DE MARSEILLE RECRUITS ITS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Supported by the State (Ministry of Culture and Communication), the city of Marseille and the Regional Council , the National Choreographic Center -BALLET NATIONAL DE MARSEILLE, non lucrative association.Its mission is to develop the practice of ll’art chor implementing an art project high-level international scale, attracting the interest of many, by enrolling in production networks and national dissemination and international. It has a permanent administrative, technical and creative team (60 employees - 30 dancers in 2012). It is one of 19 national choreographic centers.
The C.C.N. - Ballet National de Marseille is:
a center for creation, production, research and dissemination of works of artistic director and guest artists and / or associated
a shared tool for creating, open to all creators and aesthetics
a research and experimentation through the home studio device and host homes of regional, national and international companies
a place of awareness and openness in relation to all operators of educational and social field
a dynamic space for the development of choreographic culture in partnership with cultural actors of the territory.
The National Ballet of Marseille has, in the city center, a large studio wich can be converted into an auditorium with 300 seats, offices spaces, and around Marseille, warehouses shared with other local cultural actors, for manufacturing, storage and decoration materials, a rehearsal space and offices.
The Artistic Manager’s mission will be to strengthen the identity of ballet by providing a consistent and attractive repertoire and encouraging the development of talent.
Required profile :
The art direction will be entrusted to a person who has practised or is practising the profession of artist in the dance field, having a national and international recognition, and with excellent interpersonal skills. It is wished that she experienced the responsibility of a permanent ensemble of dancers. The Artistic Manager will work closely with the General Administrator.

Compensation under the artistic and cultural enterprises collective agreement, based on the Group 1 "Director".
Candidates who are shortlisted will receive schedule of missions and loads of NCC and the note of guidelines for the NCC on the basis of which they will write a detailed art project and a budget projection of full implementation of their project over a period of four years from the first year of taking office.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed to explain their project and answer any questions that may be asked.
The provisional timetable for this procedure will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
The appointment is made by the board of directors of the association after the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Communication in collaboration with local authorities partners.
