LE SIXIEME PAS
Michel KELEMENIS I Katharina CHRISTL
This choreography is the result of an encounter between Katharina Christl and Michel Kelemenis. They create a place of asides for themselves so that she can give in to temptation and wear pointes for the first time and he can reacquaint himself with the challenge of losing himself in dance something he has not done for quite a while. Le sixième pas or how to show maturity in a poetic act at the same time as a vital need to invent...The duet is comparable to the throw of a dice in the sense that everything possible is being brought into play. This sixth step is one of triumphant desire. Yasuyuki Endo will perform the role created by Michel Kelemenis for the Premiere at Klap - Maison pour la Danse last June.
MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY, THIS IS …
Yasuyuki Endo, dancer and assistant to Frédéric Flamand at the Ballet National de Marseille, was in Japan on 11 March2011, the day of the earthquake and tsunami in Tohoku. After his return to Marseille, he decided to create “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, This is…". An astounding show, full of emotion.
Mayday ... does not seem to contain any terror, just a tremendous urgency and an appetite for living that finds a percussive tribal force. Agnès Freschel, Zibeline
Despite the subject matter, the piece does not leave much room for pathos. On the contrary, performed to percussion by Kodo, it is simply power and energy. Annabelle Kempff, La Provence
