“La brisure des vases opens up a journey into the void. Not a void that is an absence of something, but a void that is the creator of imagination”.
In this piece, Nicolas Zemmour employs the metaphor of creation in the beginning, where the vase – this object made of earth and water – is crafted by the creator to produce a hollow space, allowing everyone to compose their own bouquet. He then transposes this “creative void” into his piece being created, a moment when the artist has to fabricate out of the void for his work to begin. Thus more than offering answers for the audience who are in search of meaning, the dancers moving on stage introduce dancing questions and in turn invite the audience to create.
