Christian Rizzo made his artistic debut in Toulouse in the 1980s, forming a rock group and created a clothing brand, before going on to study art at the Villa Arson in Nice and unexpectedly branching off in the direction of dance a few years later. He performed for several contemporary choreographers, occasionally also creating soundtracks or costumes, including for Mathilde Monnier, Mark Tompkins, Georges Appaix and Vera Mantero. In 1996, he set up “l’association fragile”, bringing performances, dancing objects and solo or group pieces to the stage, while alternating this work with other hybrid projects or commissions for fashion, opera and the visual arts. In the meantime he has created over thirty productions in addition to his teaching work. Christian Rizzo regularly teaches in art schools in France and abroad, as well as in contemporary dance organisations. He is currently on a national and international tour with “d’après une histoire vraie”, which premiered at the Festival d’Avignon in 2013.
