Born in Paris, Thierry Hauswald begins practising gymnastics at the age of 7, just two years before starting ballet dancing. In 1981, he enters the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de danse de Paris where he obtains the first prize in 1984. Between 1984 and 1987, he does his training at the Paris Opera School, and as early as the season 1987-1988 he enters the Louvre Ballet. During this period, he encounters several great professors: Alain Davesne, Attilio Labis, Gilbert Mayer, Serge Golovine, Claude Bessy and Lucien Duthoit. Roland Petit takes him into the Marseille National Ballet in 1988. He becomes a soloist in 1997, year during which he performs several leading roles including Les trois Yvan in The Nutcracker or Le petit Cabanon in Les 100 ans du cinema. He also takes part in the creation of Charlot danse avec nous in 1991 with Luigi Bonino. In May 2000, he is the Father in Giselle in the version produced by Eric Quilleré at the Marseille Opera. In September 2001, he is appointed repetiteur by Marie-Claude Pietragalla.
