Les travaux de Zaha Hadid explorent de nouveaux concepts spatiaux et enrichissent le paysage urbain par la poursuite d’une démarche esthétique visionnaire qui embrasse toutes les facettes du design. Zaha Hadid étudie l’architecture à l’Architectural Association (AA) dont elle sort diplômée en 1977. Elle travaille à l’OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture / Rem Koolhaas) et enseigne à l’AA jusqu’en 1987. Elle fut titulaire de la Kenzo Tange Chair à Harvard et Professeur invité à Yale (Eero Saarinen Professorship). Elle est Professeur invitée à l’Université des Arts appliqués de Vienne. Zaha Hadid est Membre d’Honneur de l’Académie Américaine des Arts et des Lettres, Membre de l’Institut Américain d’Architecture, Commandeur de l’Ordre de l’Empire britannique et lauréate du Pritzker Prize (2004). Zaha Hadid a également reçu la Décoration Autrichienne des Arts et des Sciences et est membre de la Royal Academy. Connue pour ses réalisations de référence (la Caserne de pompiers de Vitra, le Rosenthal Centre d’art contemporain à Cincinnati, l’Usine BMW à Leipzig et le Phaneo Science Center) la préoccupation majeure de Zaha Hadid réside dans son investissement tant dans la pratique que dans l’enseignement et la recherche. Une rétrospective de son travail vient d’être présentée au Guggenheim Museum à New York.

A Marseille, elle a placé la première pierre de la tour qu’elle va construire pour la CMA-CGM.
