On stage, the symbolised surface of a complex, divisive and destabilising social fabric levels out everyone’s status to the point of making them bodies alone. In a transitory space of wandering, two bodies rendered helpless by exclusion and precariousness attempt to rediscover some balance in an ongoing renegotiation of territory. Laurence Maillot and Jérémy Demesmaeker engage these bodies in a dance about state. They move from the status of being individuals to one of being disposable bodies in a slow dehumanising process. Throughout their project, their fingers on the pulse of an unequal and tense world, the creative process has swept the two artists along on a course of radical research, occasionally brushing aside things that became too stable so as not to lose the edge of risk. At the end, their own staging strikes a chord with the political and urban intention of these “interior streets”.

"Time for us“ is a duo by Fabien Prioville and his wife Azusa Seyama who works as a dancer with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Since 2009 the fabien prioville dance company has created choreographies based on the latest technical developments of communication media. The new production focuses on the experienced moment of two people meeting each other. It is a search for the significance of this moment, an exploration of places of community, the relation of the two dancers on the stage. How do we meet ? Where do we come from with all our demands and needs ? What connects us ? Fabien Prioville and Azusa Seyama are not only connected through their mutual work for Pina Bausch and Tanztheater Wuppertal, but also through their personal relationship. Thus “Time for us” focuses on the exploration of intimacy, the radical search for closeness, the wish to be together. It is also a confrontation with one´s own history – including the biographical answer as dancers. Both were hugely influenced in their work by the great choreographer Pina Bausch. In their latest piece they also grapple with her legacy. The performance plays with these points of relation and shows two individuals and their wish to leave behind their artistic legacy without dismissing it.

A production of fabien prioville dance company in cooperation with tanzhaus nrw, coproduced by Ballet National de Marseille and Dance City Newcastle. Supported by the Kulturämter der Städte Düsseldorf and Wuppertal and Ministerium für Familie, Kinder, Jugend, Kultur und Sport.
